About Dr. Don Lee:Dr. Don W. Lee is the founder of the California Cardiac Institute. Board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, he is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Angiology, American College of Chest Physicians and Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Since 1980, Dr. Lee has served the Southern California region as one of its most active interventional cardiologists. He is committed to advancing his field through pioneering research and served as Director of Research at Glendale Memorial Hospital for several years. Dr. Lee is actively involved in the design and development of interventional procedures and devices. He was a key participant in the development of the double lumen introducer for permanent pacemakers. Dr. Lee's ongoing dedication to the advancement of procedure techniques and devices has, in turn, greatly impacted the well being and quality of life of his patients.
Furthermore, he teaches and trains future doctors in his role as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. Dr. Lee is well-respected by his peers, having given lectures, presentations and symposia in academic and professional settings throughout the United States, France and Korea. Additionally, he has written numerous articles that have been published in professional medical journals. Dr. Lee's 1997 book, Dealing with Heart Problems, employs actual case studies to provide invaluable insights into the emotional and physical aspects of managing heart illness.
Dr. Lee specializes in percutaneous coronary angioplasty, coronary rotablator, stent implantations, TEC arthrectomy and numerous revascularization techniques and procedures. He has performed over 6,000 coronary interventions; over 23,000 cardiac catheterizations; over 650 implantations of permanent pacemakers; over 220 applications of aortic balloon pumps; and over 2,000 echocardiograms (including the trans-esophageal method). Moreover, Dr. Lee is one of a few groundbreaking cardiologists to use new surgical procedures such as PTMR, of which he is the principle investigator. As a stellar medical professional, Dr. Don W. Lee is dedicated to research, teaching and providing top quality health care for patients with cardiovascular disease.
