Dr. Harris attended the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. He received his bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) from the University of California, Los Angeles, from which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Before joining Cedars-Sinai Medical Group in 1995, Dr. Harris was in private practice for nine years. He has also worked as a physician assistant and research endocrinologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and with the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Employee Health Services.

Dr. Harris has been a clinical associate professor of medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine; a member of the Insulin Pump Committee at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; a member of the Medical Advisory Committee, National Cushings Association; a member of the Research Committee, Century City Hospital, Los Angeles; and a member of the Medical Executive Committee, Century City Hospital. He has served on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Affiliate of American Diabetes Association; as the director of the Thyroid Center, Century City Hospital; as the co-director of the diabetic unit, Century City Hospital, Los Angeles; as the chief of endocrinology, Century City Hospital; and the secretary of the division of endocrinology, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Harris is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Diabetes Association, American Medical Association, and American Association of Clinical Endocrinology.
