About Dr. David Wallis:

I won't say that balance is my strong suit, but it is a pursuit I always enjoy. I love helping others to explore and search for that elusive balance of body, mind, and soul that so easily gets lost. Having spent much of my training thinking I would specialize in a surgical subspecialty or in solo private practice, I ended up concluding that I really enjoyed the breadth and scope of family medicine, and that the ongoing relationship with patients was too valuable for me to pass up.

I count South Bay Family Medical Group as a true blessing – it is a group of colleagues to whom I can entrust my own family's care, and a community from which I can develop great relationships with local specialists as well. I value the freedom we have to collaboratively decide what is best for a patient and to adapt our practice to maximally suit the needs of those we care for. This ongoing challenge is one I look forward to carrying on here for many years to come.

On a personal note, when not in the office I am constantly in search of the 29 hour day. I have taken up triathlons in recent years; including an Ironman in 2008 (I'll be keeping the distances a bit more sane for the foreseeable future however). I have two sons and two daughters, all within 6 years of each other in age, and love just being silly with them and playing whatever the game du jour may be. My wife is a family law attorney, who still manages to excel in her law practice while doing a fantastic job raising our kids. We look forward to growing old together almost as much as we deny that it's happening to us. As for hobbies, I've spent much time recently doing woodworking and carpentry, and hope to regain a bit more balance soon with more time in the wilderness (preferably camping, biking, or snowboarding), traveling once again (when the kids are a bit older), racing cars at the track (much to my wife's chagrin), and maybe even going really crazy and spending a few minutes just relaxing on the beach right here and taking it all in.

By way of training, I earned my medical degree from UC San Diego after undergraduate work at UCLA. I did my residency at Santa Monica / UCLA Medical Center as well as a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Harbor / UCLA Medical Center. I currently serve as the team physician for several professional sports teams, including Chivas USA, the Los Angeles Galaxy, All American Heavyweights, and the US National Soccer Team. I recently founded ProCare Medical Consulting in order to provide customized medical solutions as well for clients such as teams, businesses, and individuals with unique consulting needs.
