About Dr. James D. Powell:

I played little league, pony league baseball and worked in my Dad's business, Green Pastures Dairy on Division Street in Lancaster. Then, it was on to the University of the Pacific where I pursued my under-graduate studies in biology and also attended California State University of Northridge for additional courses in science and business. Then I attended Loma Linda University School of Dentistry where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1985.

After working as an associate with my family dentist, Dr. Harold Brockman, I began my own practice in Quartz Hill in 1989 and subsequently moved to our current location in 2001.

I have pursued in-depth studies in advanced aesthetic restorative techniques using the most current materials available with Dr. Bruce Crispin, former director of UCLA'S cosmetic Dentistry Center , and at the world renowned Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies of which I am a Fellow.

I started my in-depth studies of treating TMD in 1992 and am a member of The International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics since1995. I started advanced training in CEREC (Cad-Cam) single visit restorations in 2003 with Dr. Rick Masek at Dentistry by Design, and again with Dr. Mark Morin at the Great Lakes Education Center in 2004. I continue to advance my education and training through regular in depth courses enabling me to transform from being a tooth doctor to becoming a comprehensive mouth doctor.

I started my studies of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2009 with Dr. Kent Smith at Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies and have been very successful in treating patients without the use of the CPAP. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Peggy, and we are raising our 5 children here in the Antelope Valley, where we are surrounded by family and lifelong friends.

We enjoy hiking, camping and many other outdoor activities that allow us to take advantage of all that the desert and the state of California has to offer. I am committed and dedicated to providing the highest quality, lifetime dentistry that is available.
